It's always interesting to find those artists who were keeping the Great American Songbook alive before the 80s, when it became popular again thanks largely to Willie Nelson's 1978 album "Stardust." You should check out Harry Nilsson's 1973 album "A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night"--absolutely stunning.
